At the Summit we take modeling behavior for our next generation of female leaders seriously and we want them to TAKE UP SPACE in the world with confidence, standing on our shoulders and blazing new trails. Last year we launched The Summit Next Generation Initiative where our next generation of female leaders, ages 15-22 joined us. It was a tremendous success as the women in the room poured into them throughout the day through intentional interaction, engagement and conversation.
There were tears, laughter and words of encouragement shared between the generations. I’m reminded of the story of one young lady who mustered up the courage to engage in our Q&A session after our Collaboration Over Competition Discussion. She shared how the safe space created in the room, helped her rise above her shyness and boldly ask the questions she desperately needed answers to. She was rewarded for her bravery by winning one of the signature gifts, and then the most wonderful thing happened. One of our speakers, gave her the gift she had just won from our Kendra Scott vault. And gifts from other participants just continued to flow to her. We were just all so proud that she “took up space” and shared!
Seating will be limited to 40 young ladies, social distancing will be enforced according to CDC requirements, branded masks will be provided , temperatures will be checked and COVID questions will be required to enter.
This year we’ve added Passing the Torch: A Conversation Between Our Next Generation & Living Legends. This discussion will be led by our Summit Next Generation Ambassadors and Inspiring Living Legends.
The room will be full of the Next Generation of young women leaders ages 15 - 22 and Living Legends in the making, from all walks of life up to age 70.
This event is hosted by Legend in the Making speaker Sheleah Harris (Lobbyist and School Board Commissioner), Living Legend TaJuan Stout-Mitchell (retired Councilwoman and Political Correspondent) and the NextGen Ambassador (16 yr old Kelsey Morgan) with young women from Beautiful Spirited Women.
This evening will be focused on sharing, exchanging, transparency and preparing them for the future and giving them an opportunity to ask the questions they need answers to in their own voice.
